Job Description:

A welcoming mainstream primary school in Balham, SW12 is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate who is considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, SEN or working with children and would like to gain valuable hands-on experience within a primary school.

The Graduate Teaching Assistant will work across KS1 and KS2, providing a mixture of general classroom support and targeted assistance for pupils with special educational needs.

• Support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with their learning.

• Work alongside class teachers to support lessons and classroom activities.

• Provide 1:1 and small-group interventions where required.

• Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.

• Assist with literacy, numeracy and other areas of the primary curriculum.

• Help pupils develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning.

• Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

• Help prepare classroom resources and learning activities.

• Become an active and reliable member of the wider school team.

• Holds a degree in any subject.

• Has a genuine interest in education and working with children.

• Previous experience with children is beneficial but not essential.

• An interest in SEND, teaching or educational psychology would be advantageous.

• Patient, enthusiastic and approachable.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Reliable and able to commit to a full-time, long-term position.

• Comfortable supporting pupils across both KS1 and KS2.
