Job Title: Disabled Facilities Grant Officer - Interim

About the Role:
We are seeking a Disabled Facilities Grant Officer to administer Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) and ensure disabled residents can remain living independently in their homes. You will assess housing conditions, process grant applications, and monitor adaptation works to ensure they meet satisfactory standards. This role involves interpreting recommendations from Occupational Therapists, drawing up schedules of works, and managing financial means-test assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer DFGs, including interpreting Occupational Therapist recommendations and drawing up schedules of works based on property inspections.
• Carry out financial means-test assessments and ensure compliance with the Housing Grants, Construction, and Regeneration Act.
• Survey residential properties and prepare specifications, drawings, and schedules of work.
• Manage adaptation or improvement projects, ensuring they meet building regulations and health and safety standards.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, and internal teams to resolve issues on-site.
• Process applications for property licences, including inspections and assessments of management standards.
• Take enforcement action for non-compliance with housing conditions and licensing requirements.
• Scrutinise schedules of works, tenders, and estimates to ensure value for money.

Requirements:

• Experience in administering DFGs and interpreting Occupational Therapist recommendations.
• Knowledge of building construction, building regulations, and health and safety.
• Experience in surveying residential properties and preparing specifications and schedules of work.
• Understanding of government benefits and experience dealing with vulnerable adults and children.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
• Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent housing-related qualification).
• Recognised HHSRS Assessor training course.
