New Chapter Tuition is recruiting a BSL Level 1 Child Support Worker to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a deaf KS4 student within a secondary school in Lewisham.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in deaf education, with the client funding your progression to BSL Level 2.
The student is new to the UK and is at the beginning of his BSL journey. He currently communicates primarily through lip reading and gesture and requires consistent support to develop his communication, access learning and build confidence and independence within school.
The Role:
Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
Introduce and model BSL to develop communication.
Use BSL alongside gesture, visual prompts and modelling.
Support communication with teachers and peers.
Help the student access lessons and wider school life.
Requirements:
Minimum BSL Level 1 qualification.
Commitment to completing funded BSL Level 2 training.
Experience supporting children, young people or individuals with SEND is desirable.
Patient, resilient and creative approach to communication.
